I won’t be sharing any tips about how to disable or enable this setting. I just wanted to quickly share my opinion. This topic has been spreading all over the internet and blogs the last few days causing all kinds of debates such as the never ending privacy setting debate.
I find it quite amusing, i don’t think it actually is as bad as the other privacy settings where everyone can see your pictures, your birthday, your wall etc. This one is ONLY for your friends, which makes it quite useful. Or not? Well, i think it does. However, i tried it and it didn’t work! Well maybe it still needs some time to work proper?! Oh well.. But in all this hassle about this new setting, people should first check the other settings as they are way more important! And too many people still do not care and live their social media lifes pretty open. So fix that first instead of going on about useful new features i would say.
Facebook… With this name, who could have not seen this happening sooner or later 🙂
Looking at German corporate blogs for my dissertation i needed to decide on the criterias for the companies i will look at. I decided to look at the major and biggest companies in Germany. Therefore, i’ve got a whole list of German companies which are in the Fortune 500 and Forbes 2000. However, looking through them not even a quarter of them blogs! What??
Overall, their social media activities are just starting, compared to UK and US companies. I was surprised to see such a big difference. Of course, some companies do use social media, but blogging, as a really important tool of “real” conversation with the stakeholder, is not common yet. Most of the companies blog about the jobs in the company and how to start a career in their company.
Well i haven’t looked through all of them yet, maybe i will get a big surprise at the end and lots of the companies i haven’t looked at are actually blogging… I will see…
This is my first entry and I have to say it’s quite a challenge. Whenever you think of writing a blog, so many ideas cross your mind of what you could write about. But actually sitting in front of the screen and trying to find the perfect first entry – impossible I would say!
Oh well, here I am. I think it is a good start to introduce myself. Currently, I am a postgraduate student in the UK, originally from Germany. At the moment I am doing a degree in international communication. And here we are. That’s the first reason why I start this blog. As learning to be a communication professional why not start with some communication right away 🙂
Additionally, I will be writing my dissertation soon. And, as so many before me, I chose my area of interest to be social media. And have a wild guess… YES about blogging! That’s why I figured, if I will be writing the next 3-4 months about blogs, I should at least experience writing them myself.
So, here I am starting my own blog preventing myself to go mad during my dissertation period…
